Worship Workshop Highlights Music, Preaching, & Worship Design

The Rev. Mary Scifres, nationally known consultant on worship and preaching, will be one of two presenters for the next installment of Liturgical Arts Renewal at Collins (LARC), April 17 at the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center near Sandy.

Rev. Scifres is the co-editor of the “Music and Worship Planner” as well as the “Abingdon Worship Annual.”  She’ll be focusing on worship for the post-modern world–what is it and why do we need to understand it? How do you design “convergent” worship? These questions and more will be explored during the day-long set of workshops (with an optional opportunity for more on April 16, the afternoon/evening preceding the main LARC session).

Joining Mary will be the Rev. Debi Tyree, who will lead participants in understanding how music is integrated into our mission. She’ll share music from around the world, and offer concrete, easy techniques for using global music in all styles of worship.
