What is Wild Goose West? Well, here’s the website for Wild Goose, happening again in North Carolina in June.
It’s a Christian festival focusing on justice, art, music and spirituality. It is committed to honest journeys. And it is modeled after Greenbelt in the UK and some other festivals across the US. It will be this Labor Day weekend at the Benton fairgrounds near Corvallis.
I think it would be a great opportunity for local church pastors and local church members and friends! When I attended Wild Goose last June, there were opportunities for me to hear amazing musicians, listen to incredible speakers like Richard Rohr, engage in varieties of sacred space/worship, and get to know different folks. I also acquired chiggers, which soured the whole deal!
We’ll be looking for volunteers to help pull this off on such short notice. There was such a swell of enthusiasm at the “test market” meeting that the Wild Goose Board decided to go for it. The areas are: Art, Kids, Youth, Sacred Space, Music, Social Justice, Environment, Operations, Performance, Interfaith, Promotion and Volunteers. Let me know if any of this interests you.

and Music (written by Portland’s own Todd Fadel), including:
MENOMENA – Damaged-art pop is the trademark of this Portland-based wunder-group. Sax blasts and foot taps and sweet hamonic harpoons will accompany each delicious listen. Google for the videos of these Pitchfork-approved gentle giants and you will not be disappointed.
LINDA HORNBUCKLE – Stretching back and forth over the breadth of R & B and blues with gospel flourish, Oregon Music Hall of Famer, Ms.Hornbuckle, wrings out the solid souls that drips out of each of us. First known for singing with popular Portland pop groups Nu Shooz, Quarterflash and Dan Reed, she’s laid claim to hallowed musical ground and pitched a tent in our hearts.
