Salome Chimuku is the regional program coordinator for the UCC Our Faith Our Vote campaign. The UCC Our Faith Our Vote campaign is a nonpartisan voter empowerment and civic engagement program for people of faith. We seek to build a multiracial, multicultural movement of pastors, congregations, individuals and faith-based coalitions empowered to engage public policy issues and decision makers from a faith perspective, to participate in respectful, responsible dialogue on the issues and to make informed decisions around the elections on a national, regional and local level.
Our goal is to lift up the bold, public voice of the UCC – to live out and witness to our unique UCC role in serving as a progressive, faith-based voice in the public sphere; to strengthen community organizing capacity during the election year and carrying forward after the elections; to place faith-based, nonpartisan participation in the elections within the broad panorama of what it means to be engaged in the public sphere for the common good – together with direct service, political advocacy, community organizing and global advocacy.
The workshops include but are not limited to:
- Cross-Issue Coalition Building: A guide and jump start in important conversations around building coalitions
- Let’s Play Politics: A State level civic and advocacy education (This workshop is provided at different levels of knowledge)
- Kick- Butt Campaigns: A simple way to look at how to run an effective issue campaigns.
