Covenants Ministry Team

Ministry Team Contact: Bunny Oliver, Chair, email

The Covenants Ministry Team (CMT) oversees the evaluation of Conference staff performance, and the authorization of standing for both churches and clergy.

In many UCC Conferences and Associations, this group is known as the Committee on Ministry. In Central Pacific Conference those functions are carried out by CMT, which represents the Conference acting as an Association for purposes of authorizing ministries.

While there is a separately-incorporated Idaho Association, the functions of ministerial authorizations are carried out by CMT which always includes at least three members from Idaho Association congregations.

The scope of work by CMT begins with persons who are in a discernment process about ministry (formerly called the in-care process), provides mentors and advisors, and counsels individuals throughout their journeys from discernment to ordination, licensure, or commissioning.

CMT accepts the guidelines of the UCC Manual on Ministry as its working guidelines and resources for all questions and procedures related to authorizing ministries.

Concern and support for retired clergy and surviving spouses residing within the Conference is part of the CMT ministry, and is focused in the work of annuitant visitors who work closely with the UCC Pension Boards.

CMT arranges periodic ministerial ethics and boundaries seminars.
