What is an “Open and Affirming” church?

Open and Affirming (ONA) congregations have adopted a covenant welcoming all people, without regard to sexual orientation and gender identity, into the life and ministry of the congregation.

What is a “Just Peace“ church?

Just Peace congregations commit themselves to be people who oppose war and actively seek shalom (wholistic peace), which includes seeking economic and environmental justice for people around the globe.

What Is an “Immigrant Welcoming” church?

Immigrant Welcoming congregations commit to build relationships across barriers, educate their members, advocate for human rights and accompany their immigrant neighbors in times of need.

What is an “Earthwise” church?

Earthwise congregations commit to meet or exceed meaningful targets for reducing global warming pollution, establish an Earthwise Congregation Committee, urge governments and businesses to respond to global warming, and act as a voice of hope in the climate crisis.

What is a “Global Mission” church?

Global Mission congregations commit to a bolder vision of God’s mission in the world beyond U.S. borders, and identify specific steps that can be taken to strengthen the international work of their congregation.

What is a “WISE” church?

WISE churches are welcoming, inclusive, supportive and engaged for mental health. The church organizes events, educates, and seeks to find ways to support mental health in the congregation and wider community.

What is a “Creation Justice church?

Creation Justice congregations guide their members in discerning how they can best embody a commitment to care for God’s creation.
