The CPC at Portland Pride THIS Weekend!

Dear members and friends of the Central Pacific Conference,

We are very excited about the Portland Pride Festival coming up! In an important decision, Portland changed its Pride weekend from the third weekend in June to July 15th and 16th so that it doesn't conflict with Juneteenth. So, Pride is this weekend!

The CPC has had a long-held tradition of participating in Portland Pride weekend to show our LGBTQIA+ siblings and their allies that God loves them and we do too! It’s a wonderful opportunity to take our Open and Affirming “light” out from under a bushel and shine it widely. Plus, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It is such a great time!

You can find the Saturday and Sunday activities on the Portland Pride website by clicking here. You can also find parking info on that website. We are writing to encourage you and your CPC congregations and friends to participate in the following ways:

• We have a Central Pacific Conference booth for both days of the Festival where volunteers will hand out CPC goodies, snacks, and be ministers of God's love for all people. We still need volunteers. If you'd like to volunteer, you can do so by clicking here, where you can also read more information about volunteer duties. Also, if you'd like to volunteer to purchase items for the booth, there’s also a place to indicate that on the volunteer signup sheet.

• The Pride March is on Sunday, the 16th. The Central Pacific Conference has spot 143 in the lineup. It will be on Couch Street between NW 9th and 10th streets.. Portland Pride organizers request that all marchers lineup between 9 and 10 AM. Since we have spot 143, our group won't be moving from our lineup spot until much later, so please feel free to join us after your worship services if you can't make it before. There will be CPC ONA church signs to carry and you don’t have to be a member of the church to carry the sign with their name on it! Feel free to create your own signs to carry, bring any Pride-friendly banners you or your church own, and to wear bright, rainbow-like colors. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
