In Memorium - Bruce R. Poinsette

Bruce Poinsette passed away on May 8, 2024.

Bruce was known for his story-telling, wisdom, and humor. He was a cherished member of Ainsworth United Church of Christ where he served in many capacities. He welcomed people into the building and worship. He worked to keep the building as well as those who worked in it safe. Bruce helped the congregation work with regulatory agencies to manage building development and property management.

Bruce served the Central Pacific Conference as Moderator-Elect and then Moderator.

Bruce built a career in construction safety. In addition, he worked with his spouse, Willie, to help people and communities learn ways to confront racism.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Willie, and his son, Bruce A.D. Poinsette.

A visitation and viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 22, from 10am-4:30 PST/11am-5:30 MST at Rose City Funeral Home, 5625 NE Fremont St., Portland.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11am PST/12pm MST at Ainsworth United Church of Christ, 2941 NE Ainsworth Street, Portland.

The service will be followed by a repast.

Let us remember Bruce with tears and laughter. May he rest in peace and rise in power.
